The story behind Cheely Custom Gunworks
Founder Matt Cheely began his journey into the “2011” world in 2005 when he ordered a custom USPSA open gun from Dan at Bedell Custom. Dan soon took Matt under his wing to show him the ins and outs to building 2011s. These were the days when your only option was to buy an STI frame kit with a polymer grip and bald slide to start a build. Everything needed to be done with only the help of some hand tools and a manual Bridgeport knee mill.
Fast forward to 2010 when Matt officially started Cheely Custom Gunworks LLC, with services varying from slide cuts to trigger jobs to full house custom builds. In 2011, CCG bought its first CNC mill and started into the manufacturing world with its first part: the horizontal Cmore scope mount.
2013 brought the first 2011 pattern frame made in house, quickly followed by the first metal grip prototype. By 2015, metal grips were in full production utilizing wire EDM machining, and the company has been growing ever since.
In 2018, we moved into our current 7500sqft facility in Hudson Michigan where our skilled team of 7 work to design, manufacture, quality check, prep, package and ship our parts.
We have CNC machines from brands such as DMG Mori, Haas, and Sodick; but our flagship machines are our Okuma horizontal pallet pool mills that can run 24 hours a day.
Our core beliefs are the same today as they were back when we started in 2010. Do the very best job you can, take care of your customers, and everything else will fall in place. We do very little marketing because our fantastic customers do all of that for us. Happy customers are the best advertisement you can have.
